Since "feral" and "community" don't intersect easily, you may find it useful to explore how/where/when/why they intersect for you. That may pave the way to finding a workable image.

As someone who identifies strongly with the animalistic side of the psyche and spends a lot of time among people who also identify in such a manner... I'd say a potential connection of feral and community would be pack, herd, pride, flock.

Just one thought. Your suggestion seems pretty astute to me. :>

I'd thought about "pack" -- but when I get right down to it, I almost never identify myself with any community. I tend to see myself in isolation.

Which may be one of the things I need to step back from if I'm trying to build a business which involves connecting with others.

As with the Swords aspect, it's not that I have to deny that part of me, it's that I need to make room for other aspects and possibilities to emerge.

"I tend to see myself in isolation."

Bagheera?

(OK, the icon made that an easy association, but still it occurred to me as an example of a feral being who participated in community on his own terms. Not the Walt Dismal Bagheera, the real one in Kipling.)

Oooh!

I love the thought of Bagheera as a role model. He was friendly with the wolves, was nurturing (after his own fashion), and he was a good teacher with a broad wisdom about all the peoples of the jungle.

He was pretty solid on sovereignty, too.

Thank you! My thought was that feral_journey is likely to have an unusual take on that intersection, as indeed do you.

Argh! Damned wrist brace. I hit post accidentally. Meant to go on to say that I like your approach also.
