Date: 2004-08-27 06:06 am (UTC)I think anyone labeling their mood "predatory" would be creepy if there wasn't a good context for it.
This reminds me of the fun I was having with the song from Chicago called "The Cell Block Tango." It is sung by women who have been arrested for killing their boyfriends and husbands, explaining why they did it. And of course none of the reasons are good excuses. But the music is great, and there's tremendous energy in the performances. I was listening to it a lot before it occurred to me that if it had been men singing those same lyrics about the women they had killed, I would have been horrified.
The gender double-standard remains alive and well, even in myself sometimes.
