Today I've been home doing nothing.
My cold started easing off this morning and finally released me late this afternoon.
I've done nothing but read, play with my iPod, nap, and watch Buffy with Wolfling.
No resumes were updated.
Nothing of import was accomplished.
It's the first true relaxation I've had in quite some time.
Tomorrow I'm going back into the office, where I'll turn in a list of the tasks and responisibilities they need to hand off to someone else, meet with my mentor about my resume, and have lunch with

Date: 2009-03-27 03:39 am (UTC)This whole layoff thing isn't making any sense to me; you were providing valuable input to the organization. For them to suddenly decide the economy demands they let you go smells fishy. But I've developed a fair amount of mistrust of corporate entities in the past few years, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Date: 2009-03-27 03:55 am (UTC)MyCo hasn't done a good job of planned growth, and they've been doing a lot in the last few months to try to eliminate redundancies and streamline operations. The headcount lost in my division is being reallocated elsewhere, in more customer-facing positions.
Three-quarters of my immediate team was let go, including folks who had been with the company more than seven years. And while my job did have value, it is considerably less valuable than a lot of other critical functions, especially if a major change is implemented as planned (can't talk about it). So it honestly does make sense to me.
