Laid Off

I just received a 30-day layoff notice.

I'm eligible to find other work at MyCo if I can; we are hiring. It's not personal. My team is one of several being radcially restructured right now, and my position wasn't considered high priority in the current economic situation.

MyCo is actually being pretty generous. I wasn't asked to box up my stuff and go home. I'm on the payroll for another month, and have been told to use this time to focus on finding a new position. They've brought in a company that specializes in transitions as part of the support network, and my severance package is good.

My director, who had the conversation with me, told me that she's already spoken to someone within the company who is looking for an admin. I'd really rather not go back to that, but I also don't care to be unemployed.

I'm trying to look at this as an opportunity for bigger and better things, and will be putting a lot of focused effort into spiritual/magical work as well as the mundane tasks of re-doing my resume and shaking the networking tree.

The thing is, this didn't come as a surprise. I've had a building intution for the past couple of weeks that my job was not secure, and I've already been thinking about ways to continue to cut costs in the household.

As always, prayers, positive thoughts, and any other supplications to the universe on my behalf will be welcomed.

Oh good grief! I hope you don't have trouble finding a new job! I must admit that your company does seem to be trying to be as helpful as pos in the circs, which is impressive, even if it isn't much consolation to those facing the axe like this.
