So, the servers have been successfully moved -- but for some reason, my gadget can't reach the new location. I've even just done a complete refresh back to factory settings (which means I have to go through a lot of hassle to re-build everything), and it still doesn't work.

To add insult to injury, my office suddenly started blocking LJ again as of today.

I'll try calling Customer Care again this evening and hope to find someone who can be more helpful. This is the second and possibly third time that I've been told to re-set my device to solve a problem and it hasn't worked.

Anyone have any bright ideas??

Argh indeed!

Since "Hulk SMASH!", however tempting, won't do much good, have you tried sending an email to LJ to report the problem and ask if they have a solution?

Already did that.

No response yet. I suspect they're going to say that since the site is up and being accessed by thousands of others this is between my and my ISP.

*sigh

Does your gadget have any software that prevents access to malicious sites? I'll bet your work does.

Another friend commented on Twitter about her work having just blocked LJ, and I mentioned I had a friend (meaning you) with the same experience. She went to her company's security person, who told her that LJ had been marked as a new site with malicious activity by whatever software they're using.

I believe LJ is banned because it has no relevance to work and can be a time-waster for employees. Ditto YouTube. Unless you have a job that involves monitoring such sites for references to the company, there's really no reason to be accessing it from work.

My handheld device is another matter entirely. LJ has contacted me and said that a number of people who share my wireless carrier are reporting the same issue, and it has to do with not refreshing the DNS server cache.

What's *really* annoying is that I was able to access LJ on the handheld today, but a little while ago it started diverting to the status page again. There's nothing I can do about it.
