How does it look from your side of the screen?

Have I been changing a lot this past month or so. . . . or am I the same person I've always been, emerging from a long journey in the shadowlands?

Or is it some degree of both?

Can you live in the underworld for a year and a half and not be changed by both living there and the struggle to ascend again afterward?

I think both --- and no, it's not possible to live in the underworld for pretty much any period of time and come back unchanged.

Are we ever truly the same as we were before?

The answer is always "both." ;)

The Underworld

Walking through darkness is always going to change those who survive the journey. Something always falls away to make room for the new. It is a transition, and while your core self remains, there are layers of what it is that makes you who you are that have been lost, while others have been added.

I leave you with this, one of my favorite quotes from Children of Dune:
We're about to go through the crucible, but we'll come out the other side. We always arise from our own ashes. Everything returns later in its... changed form.
You have gone through your crucible and are just re-emerging into light to take a glimpse at the new form you have taken.

well, you are still YOU, but I sense a serious change in direction and a new purpose. Things are going well with your work and your parenting, and now your spiritual practice is changing. It seems good to me.

both/and is usually the correct answer to an either-or question. :>
