We have a lot of interests in common -- even if they aren't highlighted by LJ (men in kilts, for example!). I'd love for more-than-scratch-the-surface on these, if you have the time/desire:

Babylon-5
Dark Mother
James Bond
Marriage
Glitter
Chocolate
Sex Magic

Looking forward to reading your answers!

Morphic Resonance Robert Thurman actually introduced me to this. It's the theory that humans are receptive enough to share emotions, thoughts, experiences without articulating them or even knowing each other. If I have an insight, other are more likely to stumble upon it even if I don't say anything about it. It has particular relevence to me as a Buddhist. If my inner world is joyful is has an impact on those around me. Likewise, if I dwell on negativity other will sense it and stay away or be baited into their own negativity.

Avoidant Personality Disorder I was diagnosed maybe 7 years ago. When I started this journal I was drowning in it. Trying to make heads or tails of it and struggling every day to just get by. It's a kind of pathological shyness. When kids are abused at home and at school, when they have no where to go to feel good about themselves they can end up giving up on relationships since all the available evidence pronounces them unlovable.

Tamara De Lempicka One of my favorite artists. Two of my user icons are hers. She paints big, powerful women that are sexy as hell.

Exploding Dog Best. Cartoons. Ever. Check out the website: explogingdog.com

Welding I was a technical theatre major in college. I loved welding. I never got into arc welding but MIG welding was something else. Lets start with the tool itself. Delightfully phallic in size and proportion, not to mention the thin metal rod that shoots out of the urethra...er...tip. And you get to wear leather duds that are hot and sweaty in a purely BDSM fantasy kind of way. I'm getting wet just thinking about it......

Twister Another art school favorite. I love playing Twister anyway. But when I was in art school I has a final for my 2-D design class that involved changing the purpose/functionality of an everyday object. I made a set of Twister bedsheets. I even made a little bed and a nightstand that wat the spinner. I got an A and the admiration of my department.

Clive Owen Please see above.

All righty then, you picked some good ones :)

temple priestesses--I was at one time a priestess of Wicca; I've sort of grown beyond that. Then for a while I saw myself as a priestess of BDSM, with the dungeon being the temple. I've sort of grown beyond that, too. Now I don't know what to think of myself as, but I am feeling the call again. So that's what that's all about.

salvia divinorum--Experimented with. Learned some things. It helped me understand energetic healing a lot better than I had previously, and enabled me to "see" things I'd only previously felt.

egyptian mau--My little furkid Scooter is an Egyptian Mau. He's got attitude to go with it as well.

jewelry making--I am a beader, both strung and woven. Love beads and shiny things, but I never wear jewelry, how's that for contradictory?

medieval--I like history and genealogy; the two are intimately intertwined for me. I love reading about the medieval period and the shift between the medieval and Renaissance period.

mountains--I have always felt attuned to the mountainous areas of the country, grew up near the Appalachian chain and moved to the Blue Ridge before heading to Ohio. I loved being out west and experiencing new kinds of mountains.

93--I am not a member of any order but a lot of my philosophy is thelemic.

Thank you for your responses! A few of these were completely new to me, which is always fun.

I'd love to chat more about being a priestess of bdsm. I'm working with Ereshkigal right now, and I think that one aspect of that work will dovetail with my bdsm practices. I know you wrote that you left it behind, but I'd still be interested in learning more about your past thoughts and experiences, if you were willing to share. I also wrote my MA thesis on the sacred prostitute in the ancient and modern worlds (critiquing most of the popular perceptions), so that's an area which is also of great interest to me.

Beading is a practice I'd like to try.

Well, I saw my role in priestessing through bdsm as being initiatory in a sense. And I often worked very explicitly with Inanna/Ereshkigal dualities/energies when doing this. Oddly enough, when I was just priestessing a small coven back in the day, long before my involvement with bdsm, was when I first worked with the Descent of Inanna mythology.

Definitely would love to explore these themes with you... that's one of the reasons I popped into the comm you run, to get my head back into the themes. Right now I feel like I'm just playing, but the pull is there again to do something more. As I'm solitary at the moment, I'm not quite sure what that something is. I'm kind of waiting for the moment to arise.

If you like, I'll add you to my "bedroom" filter on my journal; that's where movement on that front is likely to pop up first. I do know I'm considering creating a second journal to talk about it and should I go that route I'd announce the fact there.
