Big Day!

Today is my last day as an admin!

Usually it's a mistake -- or at least a waste of time -- to download work email on my gadget at home in the evening, but last night it was A Good Thing. There were two "Goodbye QoS" invitations. The first is an invitation to go to lunch (location of my choice) from the managers on the teams I support. The second is a bigger send off by my team.

The lunch event was sent out with the subject line "QoS's Tearful Goodbye Luncheon" -- which I find very sweet, since the implication is that they are the ones who will be crying.

Today I finish the wrap-up chores: doing a last reconciliation of my corporate credit card with the expenses for this group, updating org charts and phone lists with my own departure, removing myself as an owner on several email distribution lists, finishing boxing up my desk, etc. Then I'll head home, pack for three days in Miami, and be ready when the car comes to pick me up at 8pm. Tonight I'll "go to bed" on an airplane and tomorrow I'll wake up on the other side of the continent -- where they have palm trees!

How very exciting! I'm so happy for you and suspect there will also be flowers in your day today. And how could they not cry at the loss of you? You rock their world. Oh Florida where they not only have palm trees but an East and West Coast all their own! Bon Voyage!

I actually hope there won't be flowers in my day -- not with me leaving for a four-day vacation this evening! I'd have to give them away so someone else could actually enjoy them.

Flowers on Monday when I star the new job, would be nice. Then I could enjoy them fully.

But I'm not sure they're going to be thinking in those terms. ;-)

Agreed! Especially having worked in the corporate world for many, 12+ yrs, it's the people who are losing you that react and may not/probably won't remember you're flying out tonight.

Congrats on wrapping up the old job; have a great time in FL; and best of luck with the new job.

That said...how's the book coming along? ;-)

The book. . . . umm. . . yeah. . .

Destiny. . . . . . I'll get that back on the priority list. . .
