Dear Universe,

I really appreciate getting the opportunity to interview for a new job today. It's a big step toward getting out of a situation I've been unhappy with for years, and I'm excited.

However, I've noticed recently -- maybe you have too -- that I have a bunch of LJ friends who are very smart, highly skilled, ethical, and dedicated who also are very much in need of new positions. Not just "jobs" that bring in some income but career posistions in which they can make contributions commensurate with their incredible abilities and take both pleasure and satisfaction in their work.

Getting these people employed in such positions would greatly enhance not only their personal happiness and well-being, but enable them to express their gifts at a higher level, resulting in an increase in the general quality of life for all -- because they have so very much to give, and they really shouldn't be spending all their energies in survival and job hunting.

I won't mention any names here, but you know who they are.

Please give this matter your special attention over the next couple of weeks. I think you'll find that giving them the opportunities and resources they need will reduce the work you need to do yourself in the long run.

Thanks for your consideration,

QoS

You are going to make a frickin' awesome priestess. You're already a good piece of the way there.

You are so right... I feel so... hmm. Drained isn't even the right word. Unfortunately for me, I like my coworkers and my company, but I really am fast losing the ability to tolerate the actual work I do. On top of that, I realized the other day that I spend a whole extra work week, every month, just going to and from work. That's 40 hours a week, out of my life, that I will never get back. NPR makes it more bearable, but I just keep thinking that human beings weren't meant to live this way, with long, fumey commutes, and long days spent in tiny cubicles, working for a salary that doesn't keep pace with inflation, while upper management continues to take home six figures for 'cultivating' their underlings. Bah.

Thank you for putting in the good word. I could use it.

And good luck to you, with yours!
