A fun meme via [livejournal.com profile] circebleu. . . .

Recommend to me...
1. a movie
2. a book
3. a musical artist, song, or album
4. a LiveJournal user not on my friends list
5. what I should have for dinner
6. a web site

...and put it in a comment and then put this in your journal.

Of course, I won't have time to read/view/listen to any of your suggestions for a month or so, but I still want to know!

Recommend to me...

  1. a movie: Geeze, there are so many! Master & Commander, Kill Bill Part 2, A Beautiful Mind, and Secondhand Lions.
  2. a book: The Cloud of Unknowing, also, A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold
  3. a musical artist, song, or album: Heh...Anything by Hildegard of Bingen. I also like the Eurhythmics, Rush, and Loreena McKennit.
  4. a LiveJournal user not on my friends list: [livejournal.com profile] nixnivis I met her on LJ. She's studying medical transcription in Sweden and wants to specialize in neurology. She also writes Star Trek fan fiction and is altogether a fun person!
  5. what I should have for dinner: After seeing Troy, you could go out for Greek food!
  6. a web site: Kathleen's Kamelot - Lovely music and background tiles. I haven't visited the entire site, yet, but the art is great!

    Have fun!

1. Have seen and liked "M&C" and "KB2", want to see "Secondhand Lions," need to see "Beautiful Mind."

2. Love "Cloud of Unknowing" -- and love "A Civil Campaign" in an entirely different way! I adore the Vorkosigan books, and this one is particularly wonderful. I laugh out loud when I read it. But I wish LMB would have written more about Cordelia and Aral!

3. I'll have to try Hildegard. I've never actually listened to her music.

Haven't had time to check out the rest. But as for dinner. . . after I go see "Troy," I have the feeling that what I'm going to want is beefcake! ;-)
I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to seeing Sean Bean in a leather skirt! And - in a different way - to see Peter O'Toole on the big screen again.

In Troy, I love the guy playing Hector. Hector always was my favorite character in the Iliad, and I was glad to find that I liked him just as much in the movie. I liked Achilles in the movie, too. Brad Pitt did a good job with him, and he must have practiced swordplay for months, because he looked good, fighting on screen.

I read an article online a few days ago (maybe via Yahoo News) that said Pitt and Eric Bana practiced for three months on their final sword battle. Then, because they felt it was important that they just "go for it" during the six days of filming it, they agreed to let loose, but to pay each other for any "accidents" that happened: $50 for a minor blow, $100 for a major one. When they ended the filming, Pitt owed Bana $750 and Bana now has what he calls a "Brad Pitt scar" -- a small line running down next to his nose.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing Troy. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing Sean Bean and Peter O'Toole.

I saw "Troy" on Sunday -- and I'm with you on Eric Bana/Hector! I'd never seen Bana before, but he was just lovely in the role.

Ditto your comment on Pitt: he was quite impressive! I really liked his scenes with Briseis and the one with Priam.

I would love to see them do "The Odyssey" with Sean Bean!

Hehehe...Yep, they've got to do The Odyssey, now!

Though, alas, neither Hector nor Achilles would be in it. *pout*
