I've been fighting the last stages of this damn cold all week -- and my boss has been out of the office on doctor's orders, and half the floor has either been trying to recover or is currently out sick. It's been vicious.

Someone else on my friends list is writing about moving -- and I'm suddenly realizing that I'm supposed to move into the new unit **next weekend** Yikes! I need to call movers! I need to call my utilities and update my addresses!

I've been so focused on Pantheacon -- and being sick -- that everything else has faded out.

Oh, and that job I'd applied for? It's been put "on hold" pending things sorting out after a big re-org. *sigh

And I got a call from a collections agency yesterday. I couldn't understand why, since I've been doing a lot better with my accounts. Turns out it was a medical bill. My provider has the worst billing system ever. None of the statements actually describe what was done, or what the charge is for. Some say "submitted to insurance" some say "pay this amount." It's very easy to get confused. And it looks like a couple confused me into non-payment. Fortunately the amount is relatively small, so I won't have any trouble paying today, and it's within the grace period so I won't have a collection on my credit report, but it was still an unpleasant shock.

I hate late night parties in the pool. . . but I have to confess that I'll miss the quiet nights of looking out my window at the peaceful, deep blue of it, and seeing the steam rising off the hot tub in the snow.

You might want to talk to your provider about how you wouldn't have failed to pay had it been possible for you to tell what charges you were supposed to pay and what you were paying for. If the bills are that difficult to read, they have a responsibility to improve the situation. And what the heck are they doing putting it into the hands of a collection agency without contacting you directly first? Speaking as someone who's handled a lot of receivables and done collections, that's unethical.

Good luck on the move!
