I see it as an American thing. Here is Europe we don't do that.
What are you most thankful for today?
I am most thankful that we don't do Thanksgiving. We have far too many holidays as it is. Every day that is not a holiday is a reason to be thankful for.
I am observing Thanksgiving by sharing time and plenty with one of the groups of my chosen family.
I am thankful for yesterday, my birthday, being a day of joy and plenty and freedom to do what I desired and possessing the resources (and a day off work) to do what I desired. I am loved, I have a safe comfortable place to live, I have a job where I make a positive difference in the lives of children, and I and those I love are healthy (or healthy enough).
There is plenty. There is love. There is awareness. It is good, though there is always more to strive toward.
Turkey with the Califamily. I'm baking bread for it.
Thankful for all the lovely technological advances that mean I am not (A) dead of an allergic reaction or disease or cold, and (B) that I get to communicate across time and space with brilliant and loving people.
I'm going to have a little ceremony, actually. For me, myself, and I. I also usually observe Thanksgiving by making a charitable contribution. I'll choose which of my many causes, tomorrow, but for once it won't be political, it'll be humanitarian.
I'm thankful that I have a home and people who care about me. I need them both, today.
