I received this email yesterday from my dear friend John (see yesterday's post about "Deidre, Julia and I"):

Have you seen Kill Bill? I saw part 2 on Friday (after watching Part 1 again on DVD). It was truly awesome! I was going to recommend it to you as a must see.

Now. What ever you are doing. Stop it. Drop it. Get up and go see Kill Bill part 2. If you have not seen Kill Bill part 1 recently (or at all), see it first.

What are you doing reading this paragraph? What did I tell you?

Part 2 reminded me of you.

Reminded him of me??
Given what little I know about the movie, I am more than slightly surprised.

Anyone out there seen the movie yet?

To provide some additional context for his comment, it may interest you to know that this is coming from a guy who also loves "Gone with the Wind". . . .

I loved that movie. I tried to see KBV1 but never had the time, so watched it and finished it about twenty minutes before I shipped off to see the sequel. I wasn't really taken with the first, but I loved nearly every minute of the second. It was so...human. Everything was stylized, but it seemed so real, esp as it went on. I really suggest it; it's not half so gory as the first. It's got lovely dysfunctional family vibes.

John has steadfastedly refused to explain his comment. He doesn't want to spoil it, he says. So I guess I'll have to get to everyone with *why* she reminds him of me.

The other two characters he has said remind him of me are Belle and the Sandra Bullock character in "Practical Magic". . . .
