The child and I did indeed go see "Ella Enchanted" yesterday evening -- a sweet, fun movie that I think most young girls would enjoy. I had a bit of a twinge seeing Cary Elwes, one of my own youthful romantic heroes (I love Lady Jane and The Princess Bride) playing the nasty heavy, but he was obviously having a good time. His evil sidekick was a CGI snake who was quite effective.

Then we had dinner together at the Outback, then home for another two chapters of Taran Wanderer.

It was a good time, and she told me how special it was to be able to spend time together, just the two of us, which made me feel both good and bad: good that we were doing something special, bad because there's not more of it.

There was a preview for a remake of "Shall We Dance?" starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and Stanely Tucci, which has me all excited. I didn't like Gere during his "American Gigolo" and "Officer and a Gentleman" years, but love the way he's matured and aged. And of course Susan Sarandon is generally awesome. Did anyone ever watch the short-lived tv series "Murder One"? That's where I first saw Stanley Tucci and fell for him. "Murder One" was one of about five tv shows in my life that I've followed religiously, if only for the one season.

I'm tired this morning and my arms are sore from reaching above my head so much over the weekend. The air ducts will require another coat of paint to look really good, and I am non-rationally irritated that I will have to paint them *again*. Some immature part of me believes whole-heartedly that once *should* be enough. I'm telling her to grow up and realize that doing things well usually takes extra effort.

Ouch, I hate that "above your head" arm soreness!

I thought I was the only one with a Stanley Tucci fixation. If you haven't yet, you must see "Big Night" and "The Imposters."

I've seen "Big Night" but not "Imposters." I also like him in "Midsummer Night's Dream" (although I don't care for the version overall) and "Conspiracy" (which is chilling). But "Murder One" is my favorite.

Did you watch that?

No, I never heard of it. But I don't watch a lot of television at the best of times. At the worst, I have not owned a TV. Plus, I looked it up on Google and found it had the Thursday night time slot, so I wouldn't have watched it anyway. I'm always at meeting (church) on Thursday nights. But I'm upset now. Stanley Tucci and Anthony LaPaglia.

However, Tuesday nights are my TV night, so gotta go. Navy NCIS, 24, and Law&Order: SVU start in 15 minutes. ;)

Whoa! I just Googled "Conspiracy." I wonder if that's at the video store. I have to watch that.

The pairing of Stanley Tucci with Kenneth Branagh - one of my very favorite actors - is a real treat. Branagh's portrayal of how evil gets the job done is amazing.
