The Duplex
Jun. 19th, 2007 05:53 amI finally got to see the duplex recommended to me by an acquaintance of my father.
It was very disappointing.
I didn't like the feeling of the neighborhood (although there was nothing objectively wrong with it), and the place itself did not have good energy. It seemed sad and dumpy.
The woman who showed me her unit (the unit vacated by the previous tenants was still a mess) also told me that her 23 year old son and his friends are in and out a lot at odd hours. That they're good kids, but that she herself doesn't always like all the comings and goings.
It's also across the city from the middle school where my daughter would attend.
In short: I don't want to live there.
So the house hunt has kicked into high gear. My parents are helping me look. I have a couple of requests in for tours and more info, and if nothing turns up during the week, this Saturday will be spent with a map of the local schools, and I'm going just start driving around in spirals moving out from their locations.
It's a huge stress right now, especially as the new folks upstairs are fully moved in, and just waiting for me to vacate so they can expand into the basement. The daughter graduates from elementary school on Friday, and I really expected to have a place lined up by now.
Prayers would be very welcome at this time.

Date: 2007-06-19 04:54 pm (UTC)I second the craigslist recommendation, but the driving plan is also good; a lot of people just put out signs and rely on passersby being interested, without advertising in any other way.
