What one song should I download from iTunes, and why?

(Okay, you can go up to three, if you feel very passionately about it.)

What does Boromir wrestling with hobbits have to do with new music?
Nothing at all.
But I love his smile-laugh, and I don't use this icon often, and I don't have a music icon.
May you all laugh deeply and joyously with friends today!

Oh that one is wonderful.

For today I'll also add in the following:
"When I Go" by Over the Rhine
"Your Love is Mine" by Holly Golightly
and
"Nervous in the Light of Dawn" by Leigh Nash

What one song? What do you want the song for? I have a favorite song for the angry stage of break-ups and another for the hurt stage and one for when I wake up feeling good and one for when I feel borderliney about a relationship and ...

So, what do you want the song for?

I want a song that will introduce me to an artist or an insight, or a feeling that I've never known before -- or that it shows me in a new way.

I wasn't going to limit topics, but since you asked, I'm too happy in love right now to want to listen to break-up songs. ;-)

Because everything worth doing is worth over-doing:

"Lady Marmalade" from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, because it's surprising how well Li'l Kim, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya and Missy Elliott harmonize together.

"Intuition" by Jewel, 'cause it's a good reminder

"Fever" by Peggy Lee, because no one can croon like she does.

"Roam" by the B-52's, for the fun of it

"Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba, because a little rebellion is good for the soul.

"Sand" by The Lovemongers because everyone needs at least one acoustic-electric power ballad featuring Anne and Nancy Wilson.

Even though I fronted one already this week, my other new favorite is from the new Patty Griffin album ... The single is called Heavenly Day. If you listen to The Mountain, you're bound to have heard it already.

Lovely Day by Bill Withers. It is happiness and optimism in song.
