This is the first time in several years that I have not planned for weeks in advance to watch the Oscars, which is usually one of my favorite guilty pleasures. This year I've been entirely indifferent to the entire process. I do think it would be nice if Peter O'Toole finally won, but I don't care enough to actually watch the show.
I'm kind of disappointed.

Date: 2007-02-25 09:55 pm (UTC)I enjoy movies greatly, but I get tired of the hype. And currently, I'd fairly disgusted with how much attention is given to the lives of people in the entertainment industry. It makes me a little crazy.
I plan on popping in the last disc we have for Planetes, and get my fix of anime set in outer space ... or maybe I'll plug in Witch Hunter Robin again.

Date: 2007-02-26 08:23 am (UTC)I heard someone refer to it as a trade show. I think maybe that's right. Who wants to go to a trade show for a trade you're not involved in? If they weren't all so beautiful and well-dressed, nobody would care. But let's face it, a gorgeous dress covers a multitude of sins. ;)

Thought you'd appreciate that the Daughter has decided she likes the Oscars - but only the movie clips and the dresses. She told us she wants to write movies and 'take the pictures for them' ;>.
