qos: Katherine Hepburn in The Lion in Winter (Frighten the Children)

I have two small bruises on my right calf from my new boots.
Clearly, I am going to have to take this breaking-in process slowly.

But damn they look good!

When I think of a qos buying new shoes, I definitely think of boots. I hope you become accustomed to them.

If they're leather, you can soften the edges of them, by applying rubbing alcohol where you need it. The alcohol moistens the leather enough to stretch and soften a little, but then evaporates without staining.

It's an old technique dancers use on new shoes to 'break them in.' I use it to stretch around the side of my foot. Put on the shoe, soak the tight area, then wear it until it dries.

I always recommend doing a test somewhere that won't show ... just in case the leather is dyed in such a way that the color will change.
