This has long been one of my favorite Calvin and Hobbes strips.

I've had these moments. . .

ETA
Me, pointing at funnel-shaped hole in bathroom wall: Do you know anything about this?

Daughter, nodding: It's my experiment.

Me: Experiment?

Daughter: *nods*

Me: Did it occur to you that this might not be a good idea?

Daughter, looking puzzled: No.

This was in, I think, the first C&H collection, which I bought when my two were just beginning to read such things. We sat down and had the "this is funny in the book but NOT in real life!" discussion before they got to read it.

Then there was the "Stewed Monkey Heads" episode... Heh, Heh, Heh...

Mine too!

Hopefully it will enable me to have a sense of humor about my child's, erm, experiments in three or four years....

When I lived in Pennsylvania, we went to the local fireworks celebration, rather than the one in downtown Pittsburgh. We could only afford rifles ... that frequently misfired. Very funny, especially if you're sitting close enough to see the chagrin on the riflemen's faces.

Is this recent, or the one that happened a few months ago. :)

It was actually a couple of years ago. . . but it's classic.
I still need to get the hole in the wall fixed properly.

She has a fairly good sense of right and wrong in regard to interacting with people, but when she is inspired to "experiment" she 'gets fuzzy on the whole good bad thing.'
