Swashbuckler Writing Contest!
Aug. 8th, 2006 09:08 pmMy dear friend Hob sent me a copy of Ellen Kushner's new book The Privilege of the Sword, about a female swashbuckler. I've enjoyed her other books a great deal, and this one promises to be equally fun and satisfying.
The thing is: Hob didn't tell me he was sending me the book, and my own order from Amazon also arrived today.
I could return my copy for a refund. Instead, I'm offering it as a prize for the following contest:
Leave me a creative writing scene in Comments featuring a heroine with a sword. You can write in any genre: fantasy, sci-fi, humor, tragedy, history, fanfic, erotica, tragical-comical-historical-pastoral, whatever. Comments will be screened, and I will only unscreen if you give your permission. The writer who delights me the most gets the book. I pay postage.
I'll determine a winner Friday evening and ship the book on Saturday -- or as soon as I can get the winner's address.
Ready, set, go!
