Lost and Found?

While doing some pondering on sexuality and spirituality this afternoon, I did a Google search on "virginity."
The following sidebar ad came up:
Looking for Virginity?
Find exactly what you want today
www.eBay.com
With an offer like that, I had to click over.
For better or worse, I found neither virgins nor "Restore Your Virginity" kits. Although the number of t-shirts on sale stating, "I sold my virginity on eBay" suggest that perhaps I need to check back on another day. ;-)

Date: 2006-03-21 01:54 pm (UTC)I've got two thoughts (below) that come up in response, but I'm not sure if either is what you're getting at with your question.
I think that sex is an adult activity, and young people should be encouraged to wait to have sex until they are adults. But I don't think virginity is some kind of 'treasure' that needs to be preserved for marriage. I think that personal integrity and self-respect -- two qualities that are associated with virginity -- can also be maintained without virginity, and it's important to understand where one's own boundaries are.
I also know that although I have had a very full sexual life, it has been so long since I've had sex that I almost feel as if I were a virgin again, that I would be coming into a new sexual relationship almost as if it's for the first time, despite all the memories of my past.
