Usually I like dreaming.
I'm fortunate in that I tend to have vivid, colorful dreams -- and a good share of meaningful ones.
However I really resent it when my subconscious chooses to spend the night dwelling on my day job rather than something more relaxing. For the past few nights I've been dreaming of the kick-off road show, the organization of which (agenda, travel plans, meeting space, and etc.) is my big project at work right now, and THE major source of stress in my life.
I could really use a good night's sleep when I could forget about it for a while, not be in the midst of it.

*hugs

Date: 2006-02-09 12:58 am (UTC)Actually, I very seldom am able to become aware that I'm dreaming. Although it's not something I've ever put effort into developing. People write about lucid dreaming (if I remember the term correctly) but that's never been an interest of mine.

Date: 2006-02-09 03:53 am (UTC)At the first of the year our division does a "kick off" to present the company goals, division goals, and team goals, build enthusiasm, and etc. Because I work in the supply chain area, I am involved in the logistics for the leadership team visiting our distribution centers to do a slightly different version of the presentation there. Thus, the "road show."
I'm fortunate in my job in that Jeannie, my boss (not her real name, of course) is very cool, and very low-mainteance, and doesn't like to see talent go to waste, so she's always either finding me special projects to work on or supporting my special project work for others.
I don't particularly like my day job, although I like Jeannie very much, and it's a pleasant enough work environment. The company I work for is pretty good, as national companies go. After being there for two years there I'm convinced the senior leadership walks the talk of our corporate values.
However I also have a Masters Degree in Comparative Religion, and I'm currently on leave from seminary, where I'm working on courses in the Master of Arts in Transforming Spirituality program, in support of my vocational dream of becoming a spiritual director.
It took me a very long time to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.
