I'm reading my f-list, but not responding much, and I'm way behind in my personal correspondence. I'm feeling utterly overwhelmed by keeping up connections right now. I just want to crawl into a cave and push a stone in the opening and sleep for several days.

Yesterday it occured to me that after a certain point keeping up with social media becomes an extroverted activity, even if done alone. I'm feeling -- not for the first time -- that time spent reading LJ and Facebook, even when not objectively a "long time", is cutting into the "me/alone time" I need to remain balanced and grounded. It's not so much about the number of minutes spent, it's about the mental orientation.

I may need to do a fast from online communication -- or at least from social media. The thought is almost scary, since most of my active friendships these days are long distance. But I think it's important to make a distinction between one-on-one communication and trying to keep up with a wide range of folks, some of whom are very prolific. (Not that, to be honest, I'm reading all those long posts. . .)

I haven't read Brezny for a while, but a friends post sent me over there to check his Sagittarius scope for the week, and it's about as on-target as its possible to be:

"Dear Rob: All my life I've been passionate about the big picture -- learning how the universe works, meditating on why things are the way they are, and probing the invisible forces working behind the scenes. Too often, though, I'm so enamored of these expansive concepts that I neglect to pay enough humble attention to myself. It's embarrassing. Loving the infinite, I scrimp on taking care of the finite. Any advice? - Larger Than Life Sagittarian." Dear Larger: You're in luck! Members of the Sagittarian tribe have entered a phase when they can make up for their previous neglect of life-nourishing details. In the coming weeks, I bet you'll find it as fun and interesting to attend to your own little needs as you normally do to understanding the mysteries of the cosmos.

Considering that I just made a locked post for my teacher about nurturing my own inner flame for a while and not worrying about the gods, relationships in general, or etc. . . this seems like a cosmic Amen.
