Last week Dave emailed me from the road to ask if I could recommend a place for his wife to get a spa treatment. I did some Googling, sent a couple of links to places that looked like possibilities, and then said that personally I like to go to the Gene Juarez spa and salon, because I love their body treatments and you could get everything done there: skin, hair, nails, massage, etc.
Yesterday he presented me with a gift certificate for a "Taste of Spa" treatment: facial, body treatment, massage, and make-up -- a $200+ expense (I know because I looked it up later).
His note said, "Thank you for making my onboarding such a smooth and pleasant experience."
He could have done a lot less and still made me feel appreciated.
The Little Bear felt a lot better after her nap yesterday (and so did I -- I slept for two hours!). No more fever, and she could eat and drink and keep everything down. But she's staying home from school today to accord with policy. Unfortunately this means that she will miss her class's trip to the Nordic Heritage Museum. But on the other hand, I now have a strong motivation to take her there myself.
uncrowned_king, shall we make an outing of it, the three of us?
