On Second Thought. . .
Oct. 19th, 2005 05:58 amOkay, so after a bit of a chat with
shutterbob and
princesca, I've decided my observation about a gnostic element in Battlestar Galactica doesn't hold up as well as I first thought. The Cylons clearly refer to humanity as their 'parents', and the gnostic element would be accurate only if they saw humanity as a false god.
I 'read into the text' my own perception that creating artificial life is a god-like act, but that humanity clearly doesn't qualify for the role of Divine Creator, either in its own nature or in the perception of the Cylons.
My assertion made emotional sense to me, but doesn't quite fit the internal logic of the BG universe.
Methinks I will have to find myself a BG icon for these conversations. . . . Meanwhile, for this post, I will settle for a Star Wars icon with "worship" in it. ;-)
