I found out today that Kenneth Branagh's latest Shakesperean film, As You Like It, is in post-production (no release dates yet on IMDB). The cast includes frequent Branagh collaborator Brian Blessed as Duke Frederick, Kevin Kline as Jacques, and Adrian Lester as Oliver. Lester was one of Branagh's co-stars in Love's Labors Lost, and I had the great good fortune of seeing him in the title role of Peter Brook's Hamlet a few years back. Branagh himself does not seem to be in the cast, which is a disappointment, but I'm looking forward to the movie. Branagh has had some misses, but when he's on, he's so very good.
Does anyone else remember Helen Mirren in the televised "The Shakespeare Plays" as Rosalind? It was a lovely performance, something that has remained in my memory since high school.
Also today, I received my copy of The Grimmerie from Amazon.com. This big, beautiful book is a celebration of the Broadway production of Wicked. Must. See. That. Show!
I've been getting lots of kudos at work, which is very nice. Also hit on a key difference between Miss V and myself: I like to be "in charge," while she likes to be "in control." Which means, among other things, that she considers my command of the details of Jeannie's affairs inadequate, and I consider her attempts to manage my relationship with my boss insulting. Her own boss is also a controller, while mine is not. Obviously we all wound up with the right pairings -- but teamwork can be. . . stressful.
A few days ago, I found a turkey recipe on the Food Network website that made me actually want to cook a Thanksgiving dinner: Maple-Roasted Turkey with Sage, Smoked Bacon and Cornbread stuffing. I sent my mom the recipe with the suggestion that we try it this year. . . and it was only when I was discussing logistics with her the next day that I remembered: I won't be having Thanksgiving dinner with my family. My daughter and I will be on the train returning from Disneyland! *smacks forehead*
queenofhalves will be here Saturday! Hopefully soon joined by

jaynefury, and
kateri_thinks! You have to remember: I live in a rather small space. With so many brilliant, witty, creative women in such close quarters, just about anything could happen!
