Fitness Update
Sep. 29th, 2005 06:23 amI didn't post yesterday, but I showed up for weight work again: 3 minutes warmup on the treadmill, followed by ten minutes of lifting and squats with weights, six supersets in all: each superset consisting of 5 double-squat-to-lift-over-the-head followed by three sets of back lunges.
Today I did my full 30 minutes on the treadmill. I'm supposed to be doing intensity intervals, but I've given myself permission to not start those until next week. I've got sweat running down my body as I type this, so I'm satisfied.
I was so ashamed of my complete abandoning of my workouts after my canyon adventure, and so afraid to actually face the erosion of my previous gains, I didn't do measurements last week when I began this again. I'm a little regretful now, because I'd be interested to find out what the combination of stricter diet (which I really wasn't doing before) and the workouts has done just in the week. But at least now I'm not afraid to face the measuring tape and the scale on Monday morning.
But the canyon did give me this: it showed me how much less food I could get by on than what I was eating, and that oatmeal and nuts are satisfying. That has made a big difference in my ability to eat lower on the food chain, and snack in a more healthy way than I have before.
And I still have not "eaten out". Tomorrow is payday, so I will take the Daughter to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner, but their BBQ Chicken pizza is reasonably healthy, and I won't have any alcohol. And no dessert.
Eat less. Spend less. Exercise more. So far, so good.
