Yesterday I decided to change my music download/iPod management system. Instead of Music Match, I went to Real, which I like better for ripping CD's because it gives me the ability to trim the beginning and end of songs (very helpful for live recordings and/or show tunes which often have other material around the song).

The problem is that in the process the database of my iPod became corrupted, and in order to fix it, I had to allow the new system to delete my entire database of 1710 tracks. (Which is exactly what I had feared would happen.) And I don't keep all my music on my hard drive. So I've been spending my time since yesterday evening ripping and transfering my music again. This time, however, I'm going to be saving a lot more music on my drive, at least until this process is finished, and then save it to .mp3 CD's so the process will go faster in the future.
