qos: (Never Surrender)
I just checked my bank balance online.
The good news: yes, I got a very nice bonus.
Very nice.

The bad news: I had forgotten to log one of those large checks I wrote to pay off an old debt, and I bounced about ten transactions -- all of them rather small, but each of which is now going to incur a $33 overdraft charge.

[insert uncharacteristic and extremely heated line of profanity here]
[make that several lines]

*takes deep breath*

The good news: the bonus means that my regular income is not going to be touched by the overdrafts, and even with the overdraft charges, I will still be able to buy my nook. And my bank will usuall reverse a few of those overdraft charges if I call. I hate making those calls. I hate having to call and say, in essence, "I'm an idiot who can't pay attention, will you please take pity on my stupidity and irresponsibility?"

Damn, damn, damn!! I thought I had gotten past this kind of stupid mistake.

EDIT: The bank is not going to refund any of the fees. [insert more swearing here]
qos: (Dread Pirate)
This is not been my favorite week -- but there was nowhere for my day to go but up after this morning, and things did get better. I had a particularly good random collection of songs come up on my iPod while driving to work, and that helped.

Jeannie was back in the office this afternoon (after two weeks on the road) and that always makes my day better. (It's great to have a boss who makes your day better when she's around.) She presented me with my bonus check and letter and said, "I rated you at 125% for everything. I couldn't be more pleased. As far as I'm concerned, you go above and beyond every day. No matter what you're doing: for me, for the rest of our department, or for other people. If I had a dollar for every good thing I hear about you, I'd retire." And etc. This would have been wonderful at any time, but after yesterday's debacle with Miss V, it was balm for my soul.

I dressed like a pirate today for Halloween (one of only four who dressed up) -- but I was told by more than one person that it was great that I did. I realized that people smiled whenever they saw me today -- even strangers -- so that counts for something too. And I got to say "Arrrr!" a lot.

I worked late, but the traffic was surprisingly open for 5:30 on a Friday night. On the way home, I stopped a the mall and picked up my newly-repaired fleece-lined slipper. When I got home I found out that the Three Little Girls are at an activity night at the twins' school, so I have time to take a breath, catch up on LJ and maybe watch "Iron Jawed Angels". Or maybe just take a hot bath.

I am going to sleep in tomorrow.
