qos: Catherine McCormack as Veronica Franco in Dangerous Beauty (Veronica Smiling)
Good morning, Everyone --

I believe I originally found the site referred to below because [livejournal.com profile] parisgarters mentioned it in her LJ.

For the past month or so, I've been receiving an encouraging, funny, uplifting message from the Universe in my email box every morning. Not all are solid gold, but 99% are worth reading and taking to heart. This is one example:

Last night, [QoS], I was dreaming of you, again. It was so nice.

You were radiant, confident, and light beamed in every direction from the core of your being. Music followed you, angels serenaded you, and everyone was elevated by your presence. Wisdom shown from your eyes. Kindness emanated from your touch. And your power... was simply awesome.

You were... you looked... well... pretty much exactly as I see you right now.

[QoS], you totally rock.

The website is Totally Unique Thoughts -- and the email service is under the "Adventurers Club" link. If you're clicking in from work, be aware that there are some drums and rainforest sounds on the homepage.

I recommend stopping by and taking a look.

Thought I should mention that everything seems back to normal at my house. The Goddaughter has indeed recovered her emotional equilibrium, my own daughter feels fine about being around her again, and although it was a tragic accident and an all-around awful experience, I think some of the direct participants have managed to get some growth out of it.

The Goddaughter has been confronted with the fact that her anger response levels are not normal -- but people still love her -- and she has begun to seriously consider getting some intense counseling to help her continue her personal healing process.

My daughter, as I remarked yesterday, learned an important lesson about the different ways people express anger, and how to cope with that. And she learned about honesty and thinking twice before remaining silent when she knows that someone or something is being or has been hurt. I haven't even begun to plumb the depths of that lesson, but we're going to be revisiting it in a couple of weeks.

I'm also very proud of the way she spoke up to the Goddaughter when she had her chance to give her side of the story. Every so often, in the face of strong emotion, she'll crumple a bit and not want to speak. But she told her side of the story clearly, despite her tears, and she made eye contact with the Goddaughter the whole time. No whining. No complaining about things being unfair. No retreat into pseudo-cute helplessness.

I have great hopes for the woman she will become.

Steele!

Ok, thanks to all the Remington Steele fans coming out of the woodwork and reminding me how truly wonderful that show was, I went browsing on Amazon's zShops today and ended up ordering three VHS tapes of episodes, to the tune of $50+ including shipping.

And I know I have a few episodes that I taped in the '80's lurking in the back of my closet somewhere. If that darned paper wasn't due to tomorrow evening, I'd be digging them out to watch tonight.

It was another slow day at work today:

And I mean *really* slow. My only jobs all day long were three hours worth of faxing, and then emptying old, thick binders and throwing their contents into the shred bin.
