The Ex and I had a merrie gathering in our backyard last night: potluck barbecue, drinks, chips, and a bonfire in the brick pit he and a friend built soon after we moved in. We invited a hodge podge of friends and had a great time. There were five kids running around, ranging in age from three to almost nine, which added a whole new dimension to the gathering.

I met the neighbors from across the street for the first time -- which is pretty pathetic since they've been there for three years. Their names are Roland and Laura. She's a stay-at-home mom with an M.Div.! Roland is Chinese, born in Hong Kong, and was raised Buddhist. During our bardic circle he sang a delightful song about Pagans and Christians having Christmas together at one table. I'm looking forward to getting to know them both better.

I spent all day yesterday cleaning the house and putting away all the stuff that's been lying around in a mess since the last flood. Today I have a sore throat and a keen awareness of the papers that are going to start coming due very soon.

Doing LJ is so different now that my work connection is out. I don't have nearly as much time to think about and post the kind of in-depth entries that I feel like make LJ so worthwhile. I've been doing a lot of pondering and reading about plural marriage as I start work on my Christian Ethics paper, but nothing coherent enough yet to share here.
