It’s been A Week.

I’m settling into my new position in Business Operations, five floors down from where I’ve been. I go up to Sales Ops every morning and make sure everything is under control there, then come downstairs and spend the rest of the day there. This is a much more sedate floor.

Meanwhile, my Swedenborgian Exegesis class is getting started, and I have a personal intro to post before the 11th. I’m recycling the one I used for my online class last quarter, but it needs updating.

The rest of my To-Do List is as follows:

1. Adapt my paper on Swedenborg’s doctrine of the redemption for my christology class (due Feb 22). Depending on how much time I have, it may be a minor process, or I may entirely re-slant it to focus on the doctrines of the incarnation and the glorification.

2. Do my reading for the next session of christology class: one entire book, and several additional chapters.

3. Mediate a conflict between two people that has implications that reach beyond them both.

4. Write my Statement of Intent to submit to the Committee on Acceptance to the Ministry, which is due a month before their March meeting.

5. Meet with other members of the Day of Reflection planning committee to create an opening worship ritual for our March DoR.

6. See 7-10 Oscar-nominated movies before February 29th, because I can’t help adoring that whole, magnificent, silly ritual.

7. Clean my house.

8. Enjoy a day-long Deadlands session this Saturday.

9. Do something special/fun with my daughter.

I'm feeling tired just looking at the list.

The Rules

1 - Leave a comment saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

[livejournal.com profile] gothic_coop's questions to me were:

1) Who is the one person that you find yourself thinking of most often when you're alone?
2) What's the most intense experience you've ever had?
3) Would you ever get married again?
4) What is your greatest desire?
5) What is the one thing you will never do (again)?

My Descent

In my last entry, I briefly described my experience in an emotionally abusive relationship as The Descent of Inanna combined with Stockholm Syndrome.

I don't go back into that space much anymore. I've healed those wounds, chosen what knowledge to cherish and what memories to let drift deeper into shadow.

But writing even that little bit, and then mourning the creativity that I've been lacking for the past year or two, sent me back to this piece of writing: one of my very rare attempts at poetry. (I usually express myself in fragments of novels.)

So here's this to share: the poem I wrote back in 1989 about my underworld initiation. (Please pardon the mixing of mythological metaphors.)
