They sent an ice cream cart, complete with tinkly little song playing, through the building this afternoon, handing out free ice cream treats to everyone.

Hmmmmm. My innner cynic is - well, thinking very cynical thoughts about corporate HR. Don't hate me :) Please. I am glad you got an ice-cream surprise.

Oh, I'm sure they wouldn't be doing things like this if they weren't convinced there are bottom-line benefits. But they do seem to be taking seriously the corporate goal of becoming one of America's "Best Places to Work," and they do stuff like this frequently. They also offer great salaries and benefits and leave policies, the stuff that matters far more than ice cream. So I tend to accept such offerings as this one at face value.
