This makes me think of some lines by William Blake
"The vision of Christ that thou do'st see Is my vision's greatest enemy... Both read the Bible day and night But thou read'st black where I read white."
Which is why I did not elaborate on who "they" are.
I have my own opinions, of course -- but part of the point is that I'm sure that whoever the defamers are, they are sure they are not "one of them." I'd like to think that I'm not. . . . but there are thousands, if not millions, of Christians who would strenuously insist otherwise.
