I received an email yesterday from the organizers of Pantheacon, inviting me (and everyone else on their mailing list) to start thinking of possible presentations for February 2010.

The theme is "Back to Basics" -- and I'm not sure what I've got that fits that.

Last year I didn't submit a proposal, and I ended up feeling regretful once I got to the con -- but really, nothing felt "ripe" enough to present, and I didn't want to propose my "BDSM and the Sacred" class a second year in a row.

Several people have asked me if I'm going to present on Ereshkigal this year. That's definitely a possibility, but I'm not feeling any urgency around it at the moment.

I've thought about Spiritual Direction as a topic -- perhaps even as a panel discussion.

Is there anything I blog about that you would want to invest 90 minutes of your time listening to me talk about? Or lead a discussion about?

I would love you to lead a small Descent Ritual...

^_^ ?

*blink

Would you believe that never remotely occurred to me?

Of course, I have no experience leading public ritual, but perhaps an introduction followed by a guided meditation might work. . . .

and you can keep it small by telling the organizers you want a maximum attendance of 30 or maybe less ... that makes the group-think ritual space easier.

Whatever you choose, it doesn't necessarily have to be in the "Back to Basics" theme...

I think the spiritual direction idea is a very good one, though, and would explore doing a panel on that. (I have some suggestions for who might be good to get to participate in that as well...)

I'm certainly interested in any suggestions you have for panelists!

Well, for starters, one person I know of that has been doing a spiritual direction practice for a while is [livejournal.com profile] yezida, though she may be somewhat over-burdened at PantheaCon...then again, maybe not! It wouldn't hurt to ask, in any case...

Spiritual direction is an area I'd like to delve more into eventually, as I did take some training in it while at Gonzaga, and I have done it "informally" on a number of occasions...However, there's far too much in flux in my life currently to reasonably take on such a thing in a formal manner...

I received that email too. (To confirm your suspicions.) Since this year Pantheacon conflicts with my yoga teacher being n town, I'll be spending that weekend with John Friend and not at Pantheacon. I might come down for Sunday night/Monday though.

Both the spiritual direction panel and the descent ritual sound good to me. I've also been wondering what kind of 'practices' you frequently refer to, how you discovered them/put them together, and how they work in advancing spiritual progress; I would definitely be interested in something (workshop, panel) along those lines, as my own attempts have been rather jumpy and disorganized. Just my two cents.
