If you allow yourself to remain bound, you will fail at a major portion of the work of this lifetime.

And, as my teacher has tried to make clear to me: it's not enough to get unbound. I also have to regain the strength of atrophied and/or underdeveloped 'muscles' and skills.

Sometimes the work of continuing to grow is exhausting, and it's still very hard for me to discern when it's appropriate to rest and when I'm letting myself down by not pushing myself.

But I guess my sense of depression over the past couple of days due to my lack of constructive energy is a pretty good sign that I've gone over into the "not pushing myself enough" area.

She is wise.

She's very big on personal empowerment, I've noticed. I asked for Her help the other day and She gave me a 'look' and told me how to do it myself. At least, I think I did it myself. I'm sort of iffy at this point.

makes me think of the pain of getting rid of leeches. it's like it hurts more to get rid of the parasites than to live with them, but they drain one's energy.
