The majority of the significant, spontaneous spiritual events I have experienced since starting this path have taken place the day after one in which I have completed all my assigned practices.

This is probably not a coincidence.

LOL, probably not. I'm thankful that Goddess hasn't asked me to do any particular practices on a regular basis. I'd fail miserably!

I would never have been able to become this consistent were it not for the fact of my teacher's presence and encouragement. Before this I literally had never been able to maintain a spiritual practice more than two weeks -- and most failed within a week. Her presence helps me stay accountable, and when I call her or email her to rail about how frustrating it is and how I don't want to do it and waah-waah-waah she hears me out, tells me that such feelings are entirely normal, and sorry, but I need to do the work anyway.

It really helps not to be in this by myself -- or alone with the gods.

I envy you having a teacher. I feel the need of one. But as you've noticed, I can be a bit skittish. Bad experience in this life and overall feline nature. The fact that I live on the ass-end of a conservative Christian island and it's Winter isn't helping one bit!

Pfft. Disregard my rantings, a chara. I can be a brat.

My teacher and I connected through LJ. We live several hundred miles apart and have only met in person four times. It helps my own independent, stubborn nature that we're not working in a named tradition that has lots of rules and structure. My teacher has a very strong grounding in ritual magic as well as underworld work, so she has the skills to teach and the wisdom to provide guidance, but I have the freedom to allow my path to unfold on its own terms, not fit itself to someone else's pattern.

This sounds like the ideal situation for myself as well. Hmm... For now, though, I need to go clean out my "broom closet" and my jewelry case.

Nope, it's not. It's a classic outer plane check. *g*

Yeah, probably not!

I am also a teeny bit jealous of your teacher.

Thank you for sharing, again.
