I don't usually do memes on this journal, but [livejournal.com profile] wakingbear's questions are pertinent to my work.

You all know the drill: If you want to, leave a comment requesting to be interviewed. I'll ask you five questions which you re-post and answer in your own journal (not in comments here) along with an invitation for others to comment and receive five questions.

1. In your view, can a truly developed sense of the spiritual be divorced from the body?
No. We're embodied creatures, and a developed spiritual life must take that into account. However, I'm not going to try to describe "a" way which that must be expressed. Personally, my spiritual life is more rich since I was able to open it up and include my sexuality -- but it remains limited in that I don't go much beyond that. I am not well connected to the physical world, and my spirituality reflects that.

2. If it were demanded of you to bare yourself to an element (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water) and truly embrace it on as intimate a level as possible, what element would you choose and how would you achieve that embrace?
I love Fire, but it would be the most challenging embrace intimately. I would want to have someone skilled in fireplay help me experience the touch of fire in a way I could handle. Lacking that, I would build a circle of fire (perhaps a shallow trench lined with rocks on both sides, filled with firewood) and light it from the inside, so I would be surrounded by flames and need to stay there until they burned down. (I would want someone outside the flames to help me if things got out of hand.)

3. If, when driving through a wooded area at night, you were to come across an wounded animal in the road that was clearly alive, and equally as clearly unable to remove itself from the road (perhaps it was struck by a car before your arrival) what would you do?
This one is tough, because I don't like any of my answers. First, it would depend a lot on what kind of animal and the risk to myself of approaching it. I don't think I have the kind of knowledge or gear to handle or help most animals safely. If it was a large animal, I would try to use my cell phone to call the state patrol or other authority to come assist. If I got hold of them and was told someone would be there in a relatively short amount of time, I might keep my car there with the emergency lights going, but it would depend on the risk to me and those with me, especially if my daughter was in the car. I would hold her welfare above that of any animal.

4. Is there something you find very difficult to do in front of others or in a public setting?
The only thing that comes to mind is submission. I am very comfortable doing public speaking and presentations. I don't have any social phobias. I've been tied up and flogged while mostly naked at the local bdsm club on two separate occasions. But it would be very, very hard for me to wear a collar, kneel, or perform other obvious acts of submission where others could see them. I would also find it extremely difficult to be given orders in business situations where I felt my dignity was being compromised.

5. What brings you the most joy (not contentment or happiness but pure unadulterated joy) in life?
I have not experienced joy since LM's death.

As such an emotional based being as yourself, I think you'd make a great fire dancer :)
