It's my breath, my focus. . . and some of my energy. . . but this is The Tree of Life I'm working with. As the magus said: "Don't try to top it from the bottom."

I relaxed more tonight, was more yin, focusing on the fact that these energies already flow through me. I don't make this happen, I open my awareness, sharpen my focus, clear obstacles, get myself out of the way. (See: Don't top from the bottom, above.)

I also keyed in this evening to the awareness that the Spheres of the Middle Pillar don't exist in isolation. They are connected by Paths. Even though I haven't yet memorized the names and the attributes of the Paths, just seeing the energy flowing downwared through the Paths rather than having nothing between the Spheres was very helpful.

And: I did all my practices tonight and worked on my Tree of Life notebook -- even though I also watched a movie this evening. Go me!

Someone once told me that it takes doing something 21 days in a row to make it a habit. After that it feels odd NOT to do it. It has worked for me. I like to count down from 21 to 0. Keep up the good work!

Thank you.

21 days is what I've heard as well -- although it feels like it's taken a lot longer to get to this point!

Thank you!

Each evening I'm supposed to do a Qabalistic Cross, the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, a Triple Soul alignment (from the work of Orion Foxwood), the Middle Pillar, and end with another Qabalistic Cross.

On good evenings, I also do some meditation or inner journeying.

Ah, see, I don't know what those are, though. Are they magician practices? Most of my background is in shamanism, so I've not heard of these. That looks like a lot of intriguing work.

Yes, they're ritual magic practices, with a specific focus on Kabalah/Qabalah/Cabala. I resisted them pretty intensely when my teacher first suggested I start doing them, but they've proven to be very valuable.

In a way, they're like practicing basic fingering exercises on an instrument (which I also resisted!): not very exciting most of the time, but essential for building up basic skills.

They're very common practices. If you want to learn more, you can google them. I've been using "Paths of Wisdom" by John Michael Greer as my basic text for Kabalah and "Learning Ritual Magic" which he wrote with Clare Vaughn and Earl King, Jr. for general ritual magic.

I think I will take a look. Of course, my curiosity is going to get me in the kind of trouble that will probably have Anubis looking over my shoulder in pointed, meaningful ways, but there you have it.

hey there,
I just read your transcription of your talk with Ereshkigal-- I loved being privy to the intimacy and push-pull between you and your God. And what you just said here about these energies already working in and through you really made sense to me. Often I don't comment on your entries because I don't have anything to say that fits the comment format, yknow? But I wanted to let you know I'm reading and enjoying.

Thank you for letting me know.

I often feel the same way about others' entries -- including yours.
