Roll out crackers on wax paper with a rolling pin.

1. Take out a rectangular baking pan.

2. Open crackers. Dump crackers into pan.

3. Pretend you are four years old. Take handfulls of crackers and crunch them up as small as you can.

4. Get out a can of peaches. Roll can of peaches over crushed crackers until they have been pulverized to the desired granularity.

5. Proceed with the rest of the recipe as written.

Waxed paper makes a very good bird cage liner, though. *g*

I remember that. . . I had a parakeet long, long ago. It was not a successful relationship. I ended up giving him to a woman who kept birds and they got along famously.

He used to drive my mother nuts. She was a singer, and when she vocalized, the bird would start screeching along with her. She would have to move his cage into another room and shut the door in order to practice!

My budgies aren't particularly moved by my singing. Rembrandt will vocalize with me, particularly if he is perched on me while I sing; he warbles when he really gets going, but he might also make a parrot squawk or a laughing noise or a squeep. Our departed finch Alexander was very sensitive to music and used to express his approval for things by adding his song. I always liked hearing him sing while we were rehearsing with our old choir (a for-fun group, not a church choir, though we did a lot of sacred music).
