I've accepted a through-the-first-of-the-year contract position as an open issue follow-up specialist for a local game company.

The call center is about fifteen minutes away from my house, and it will give me a chance to further develop the skills I that served me in my call quality position at FormerMyCo.

I'm a bit nervous about making the commitment, but since no one has been calling me for job interviews, I consider the risks to be minimal.

I really enjoyed the environment of the call center: geek central. It's a blue jeans work environment too, which is great.

Hopefully it will be both fun and satisfying.

Cool! Contract work can be a lot of fun since you don't have to deal with office politics a lot of the time.

Congratulations on the job. It sounds like a great opportunity to at least be proactive about earning money, not to mention a source of a bit of an ego boost that you can't really get from anywhere else.

I think this is going to be great for you, especially the part about still having time to devote to your Important Things.

I enjoy doing contract work. You get to work with other people while still having a feeling of autonomy and independence. Congratulations. Don't forget to save for taxes.

A good environment, a product which is fun, a job you don't have to devote your life to, or stay with past the contracted date. It's a great transition position! Congratulations!!

I think this sounds like a really good opportunity to earn some much-needed cash in an environment you find comfortable, while still allowing you the opportunity to work on building up your spiritual direction practice, without the pressure of your money running out. Best of both worlds if you ask me. :-)
All the luck in the world with it all, Honey!
Hugs

I've always enjoyed temp work. It's fun to go in to a new office, learn things quickly, and then move on to something new.

I've always enjoyed temp work -- although this is the first time I've done a contract job rather than a filling-in-for-someone-who-is-coming-back position. The latter always made me feel like a superhero: jumping into the breach, adapting quickly and making people happy, then saying "My work here is done" and vanishing off to a new assignment.

I confess, however, that I would like the stability and the benefits of long term employment. I'd need higher wages to do contract work for an extended period.

Thanks for the tax tip. I have them do withholdings, so I don't have to worry about it later.

It could be a great experience.

However, it may require that I postpone our lunch. I'll have to see how my schedule works out. . .
