This is the second morning in a row that I've been awake at 3am.

I am not amused.

Going back to bed soon. . . .

I remember reading a theory in high school that said people will do this and its actually more normal than our nine-hour-straight sleeping hours, because it harkens back to the Neolithic/cavemen days when people would sleep in shifts. Apparently there are supposed to be benefits for people who wake up in the middle of the night, putter around for a bit, then go back again. Something good for the brain, I think.

Of course, I would have been an awesome night watcher. *mutter* Damn insomnia.

Often if people have no problem going to sleep, but then have a tendency to wake between the hours of 2am-4am, it can indicate that their liver is under additional stress and could use a little extra support. If you're a tea drinker (sorry, I can't remember) you could try sipping a cup of dandelion or milk thistle tea at night and see if that helps since both of those are good tonic herbs for the liver.

I'm not a tea drinker, but thanks for the tip.

The weird thing is that I've been eating in a much more healthy fashion recently.
