Forgotten Gift

qosLast night I was searching through a variety of notebooks for a story fragment that is particularly pertinent to my spiritual life right now. I found two other fragments of the story, but not the episode I was looking for, which was quite frustrating.
However, in the process of going through my notebooks I found something I had forgotten: a note from Lohain, one of five he left hidden for me after our first two days together, after he had to leave to go home.
I had been stunned when I found the first note, because when I met him Lohain carried an energy that was fierce and passionate -- but not particularly romantic. The gesture of leaving lovenotes, however simple, floored me, made me realize just how much he did care, and how much of him I had yet to understand.
To re-discover this note now, within days of the anniversary of his death. . . It's a very special gift all over again.
