Because I'm too tired to do almost anything else. I was up past midnight last night on a creative writing jag (nothing good - but it was flowing, and that is precious) and then up at 5:30am, then had Christian Ethics class this evening. The prof is enthusiastic, but not as disciplined or with as much content as Fr. R of the last two quarters. Miss Vicki has assigned me to preside over "Snack Time" tomorrow morning. Damn it, I miss being able to LJ during the day. I miss at least having the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with people!
So here's something full of color and evocative words and signifying nothing:
Mad Girl's Love Song by Sylvia Plath
"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"
Thanks to
shellefly, from whom I also got the quiz.
Oh yes -- my daughter took the Firefly Quiz. First result was 65% River -- then she took it again and was 73% Jayne. Sometimes my daughter scares me.

Which poem are you? The Mad Girl's Love Song by Sylvia Plath To you, love is desperate and hateful. You're wildly passionate and wildly inventive. You're also likely to start stalking people. |
