qosThis sign was posted outside the entrance to a ritual theater performance of "Dark Goddesses"*:
WARNING: STROBE, SMOKE, FIRE, NUDITY, BLOOD, SNAKE.
My gut response was to post the sign on my life with one change:
WELCOME: STROBE, SMOKE, FIRE, NUDITY, BLOOD, SNAKE.
There is too little that kind of energy in my life right now.
For all the stress, and all the welcome challenges, everything in my life feels distressingly mundane and gray.
It's the eternal struggle: how to be a responsible grown-up (especially a mother!) while keeping in touch with the wilding passions of both physical and the spiritual realm -- or, I should say the passions that unite the physical and the spiritual, the ancient, primitive experience of ecstasy.
Without ecstasy, without the experience of standing outside of or beside one's everyday self, it is all too easy to become imprisoned in the neat and tidy little boxes of the materialistic, conformist world.
I'm tired of it!
