It was tough to go back this evening. I was tired, and not really looking forward to it -- but it was a much more enjoyable experience than Tuesday night. This was primarily due to two factors:
1. I surprised myself by starting to pick up on the vocabulary and inner sense of the system late in the session. I couldn't tell you what exactly it was that my teacher did, but something about the way she brought one foot in and down let me know what was going to happen next. I was extremely started when I was right! Also, there's a certain style to the movements, unlike anything I've seen before, and I'm starting to pick it up a bit.
2. The energy of this routine was much more resonant with my own. There were fewer circular motions, less urging to "feel the water, feel the air," more straight-line movements with clean, direct energy. She invoked swords once or twice, which made me smile.
I also really liked most of the music.
Once again I'm thoroughly tired and all my muscles are telling me that they've been used, but I'm not feeling like I'm going to keel over and I'm not in pain. That's a good way to feel after exercise.
