If I Didn't Have to Go To the Day Job
Aug. 26th, 2007 08:43 pmLast week, I posted about the tears that came when I tried to imagine what I wanted my life to be. This evening,
wlotus posed a similar question that I could answer.
This is what I wrote:
First, I'd buy (or build) a nice house with a big yard -- away from ex-husbands and swimming pools, but with plenty of room for friends to come over. I'd splurge a little building a big library and a home theater because I love watching movies. I'd hire someone to take care of the lawn and garden because I'd want the beauty around me but do not enjoy that work. I'd also pay for maid service.
Then I'd put a lot of effort into building my spiritual direction practice and creating workshops and classes. I'd like to spend a significant amount of time working in these areas, because that's where I have fun and feel I have a lot to give. I'd take classes too, as my curiosity and schedule allowed.
I'd go on periodic travel adventures with my daughter, and go on a week-long personal retreat at least twice a year.
If I had any money left over, I'd hire a personal trainer to come to the house and help me work out, and I'd keep a masseuse on retainer.
