Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] thomryng!

May the coming year be filled with blessings and joy!
qos: (9 of Pentacles)
I have seven bags of clothes in my entry way which I am about to take up to my car and then to the thrift store drop off. While I'm out, I'll stop at Fred Meyer to see what they have in the way of placemats -- and perhaps a runner -- to go on my new table, so I don't have to use dishtowels under the plates. (Yes, there's a story about the new table that I haven't had time to tell. Plus one about Mission:Wii that has a lot to say about my relationship with both my father and [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_.)

After the first two stops, perhaps I will head over to the Paper Zone, because I have A Creative Project I'm going to try and need to find out what my options are for both paper and decorations.

I have three -- count them, three -- writing projects that I would like to finish before Christmas, and also want to spend some quality time this afternoon digging into them. I actually have ideas flowing in my mind right now, and I'm sorely tempted to stay here at my desk and write, but if I do that I'll never get the out-and-about chores done. And those bags really can not stay in the house.

Oh, and I have to empty the garbage in the car and stop at a gas station and vacuum. Or maybe I'll vaccuum tomorrow.

Random insert on the subject of cleaning: I am lusting after a Scooba

This evening, there will be dinner at the diner with an old friend, then coming home to do the dishes, then make cashew chicken so I can have leftovers for breakfast and lunch. (Something I should include on those Random Facts Memes: I seldom have traditional breakfast food for breakfast.)

I'm missing my menfolk, but feeling great about getting so much done!

As I've mentioned before, although I do tarot readings myself, I really enjoy doing readings at Tarot.com.

Today I took advantage of a free reading and focused not so much on my spiritual direction practice, but on the wider picture of getting a job that is both personally satisfying and more than adequate to support me financially.

Here's the crux of it:

Present: Page of Coins
The wise apprentice merges willingly with his new profession.

With the Page of Coins in this position, you are typified as a person who is reinventing her or himself to create a better fit with a chosen profession. The wise apprentice shapes him or herself to the needs of the work and embraces a lifestyle, not just a job description. This requires a certain amount of contemplation and study, not to mention the actual physical experience of getting in there and wrestling with your medium until you become adept at it. As you master the skills and techniques as well as the laws and rules of your trade or profession, you create value in yourself and a niche for yourself in your field.

[I should add that that card has been coming up a lot for me on that site.]

Near Future: Knight of Wands
Ask yourself what you think you gain by repeated delay.

When the Knight of Wands falls in this position, it seems there is difficulty getting started. The outset is hampered by a tendency to find reasons to delay, hold back or be dissatisfied with preparations. That may be acceptable to a point: preparedness is crucial and good timing essential.

But if a new beginning is repeatedly delayed, you may have to ask yourself what you may be afraid of that would cause you to go to such great lengths to stall or postpone its development. When that question is answered, you can begin to overcome your blocks and allow your energy to flow smoothly toward the goal again.

Far Future: Temperance
The world needs the example of those who choose to heal and grow beyond their previous boundaries.

With Temperance in this position, there is potential for you to become a healer. You are displaying relevant skills in your chosen medium whether it's physical, emotional, mental or psychic.

The greatest test of all is the ability to heal oneself. Choose to develop yourself consciously, and model what a restored and regenerated body-mind looks like. Humanity depends upon pioneers who choose to cultivate themselves and model what is possible.

There are some important questions there for contemplation and brutally honest journaling. There is also a promise of achieving my dream, if I will only find and remove the inner blocks.

That's what keeps smacking me in the face both in this area and in my day job, where I've felt very challenged about filling a leadership role while still employed in a support job: nothing and no one is holding me back but me. Everywhere I turn, I receive nothing but affirmation of my skills, my abilities, and people's faith in me. If I'm not making progress, it's my own damn fault. Because there is support all around me.

Like my new userpic? In case it's not immediately clear, it's The Bride preparing to burst her way out of the coffin in which she's been buried alive. It's my new "shattering boundaries" icon.
