Connections

Usually I can't manage to log-in to LJ on my Dash, but I'm glad I managed this morning, because last night's storm took out the household's internet.

My house remains dry! The dike keeps my drain from coming close to being full, even in a full-fledged storm.

Had a wonderful evening last night meeting a_belletrist for the first time. She came up to have dinner and create a character for Storyteller's new game. He cooked a new recipe I had found for grilled scallops with almonds (that turned out very well) while A_belletrist and I sat at the kitchen table and talked. After dinner, they created her character while I did the dishes.

Just as her LJ entries suggest, she and I have a lot in common, and I thoroughly enjoyed having her over.

Today I get to make final decisions about Thanksgiving dinner and go shopping (turkey is not on the menu). Storyteller and my parents will be joining The Daughter and I for a mid-day celebration, then the parents are going home, the daughter is going off with her father for his family's feast, and Storyteller and I get to have some uninterrupted time to relax together .

Major Appliance!

I have just purchased my first major appliance! A new dryer will be arriving from Sears on December 2nd.

Our current dryer is lying on its side to prevent appalling squeaking when it runs -- but that seems to have caused problems with the heating element.

Time to put the old one out of its (and our) misery and get something of high enough capacity to meetthe needs of our large household.

Good Housekeeping Tip of the Day

Cookie shapes become more irregular the more vodka you drink between batches.
But none have burned, and I have not been burned, so how bad can it be, right?


It's a good night. I have both my men and my daughter close by, and we're all having fun and being productive regarding tomorrow's holiday meal.


But my new Palm has to go back to the factory because the screen is defective. Frack!
