Sick Day

Yesterday my boss strongly encouraged me to leave work early because I was snuffling and sneezing conspicuously. I slept moderately well thanks to two doses of Alka-Seltzer Plus Nighttime, but this morning my head was fuzzy and I was tired, and I thought The last thing I want is to get horrifically sick again -- so even though I am precariously low on sick time I am going to stay home today.

[livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ was also feeling lousy, as was my daughter, so the three of us had a sick day together: going back to bed(s), then lazing around all day.

During the mid-day, I finished a book while [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ played Magic with my daughter, then he and I retired to the bedroom to snuggle and talk about the game that he will be running in a week or so, and about my character creation. Then we took a shower, and made dinner, and washed dishes. We had just settled down with our computers when we both confessed to a case of the munchies.

So we piled into his car -- with my daughter -- and drove up to Krispy Kreme. The daughter was in her footy jammies, I was in my pajama bottoms and one of his sweaters. I felt like I was back in college going on a study break. Now we've each had a doughnut and are going to be virtuous and go to bed (again) at a reasonable hour.

We will all report back to work and school tomorrow, but staying home today and relaxing together was really good for all of us.

And - dang it - everyone needs a spontaneous evening doughnut run every once in a while.
